After his 2 week interactive evaluation at Get Grounded Equine, we see Bernie thriving in a home that enjoys a variety of activities and disciplines. Bernie possesses that thoughtful, quiet, non-reactive temperament found in many of the heavy draft types, yet compact and agile thereby expanding his potential. Bernie was born and raised in an ideal situation for a youngster, in a family herd of 10 on acreage. This scenario has offered Bernie a lot of interactive and social experiences with other adults as well as adequate play time with peers. His breeders have a solid background in teamster work and farming. Utilizing his dam in the daily routine of farming, Bernie has been exposed to many aspects of teamster work. During his first year while still nursing, Bernie learned to follow along tethered to his dam over and around obstacles. He has been exposed to cars, machinery, and trailer loading. Bernie’s dam is calm, quiet and confident. She is appreciated for her good work ethic, balanced with good stride and endurance. His sire is a very well bred Fjord who has passed on lovely structure & temperament. Overall, we find Bernie to be curious, friendly, and easy to engage. He has good comprehension of basic handling and ready for someone to broaden his reliability in a variety of contexts. He currently resides on the farm where he was born and raised. Offered as is or with a training package. We can provide an age appropriate training program that involves in hand work on trails and long line work for Bernie before he moves to his new home.
