Lyra is a classy 6 year old Friesian/Thoroughbred mare standing 16 hands high with presence, athleticism, an exceptional work ethic and willingness to learn. She is a forward, elegant mover with the type of quality that stands out.
On the ground, Lyra has excellent manners and doesn’t overstep boundaries. She stands tied and is easy to groom, clip, bathe, and braid. She stands great for the farrier and is currently shod though she does not require shoes. Lyra is as quiet as a field mouse in a stall or happy to be turned out in a mixed heard of mares, geldings, and youngsters. She is simple to catch in a field and meets us at the gate. She requires no maintenance and has no vices.
Under saddle, Lyra is a dream partner! She is honest, forward, and light on her feet. She is currently schooling over small fences with confidence and shows plenty of potential to excel as a fox hunter or dressage mount. She is athletic, balanced, and enjoys having a job, with the movement and attitude to continue progressing in a program. Out on the trails, Lyra is a superstar! She crosses moving water, ice, bridges, mud, ravines, rocks, you name it! She will hack out alone or in a group and will gladly lead or follow. Lyra will hack out English or western and goes in a simple snaffle. She is the point-and-go type that will go wherever you point her.
In addition to riding, Lyra drives and is traffic safe. She confidently stops at stop signs and traffic lights and is comfortable traveling down the road around traffic or taking a nice evening stroll around the farm.
