Rowan - Yearling Clydesdale Filly

This is not an easy post to make, but because I care about Rowan, I’m going to be completely honest, the good, the bad, and the ugly, so she can find the right home.

🔹 Basics:

• Yearling Clydesdale filly

• Approx. 15–15.2hh currently (not sticked)

• Expected to mature around 17hh (Dam 16.3hh, Sire 17.1hh)

• Flashy roan (likely bay or blue roan once fully shed out)

• Located in Granbury, TX

💜 The Good:

• Halter broke, leads, and stands tied

• Has been introduced to lunging

• Very athletic for a full Clydesdale

• Smart, aware, and has a serious brain

• Has the potential to make a very nice horse in the right hands

⚠️ The Bad:

• Can be iffy to catch — not bolting, but will avoid, swing away, and walk off

• Once caught, typically leads quietly

• Stands tied, but is still very much a baby — moves around, swings, paws

• Needs her feet done — will likely require stocks or sedation

• Had 60 days with a trainer, but did not progress as much as hoped

• Has figured out that she is big and strong

🚨 The Ugly (and most important):

• When she decides she doesn’t want to do something, she escalates quickly

• That escalation can become dangerous if not handled correctly

• She is fast, powerful, and aware of it

• She is NOT a beginner horse, not a kid project, and not a “love on her and she’ll come around” type

👉 She needs an experienced, confident handler who is prepared to put in serious, consistent work.

This filly has a lot of potential, but she needs the right person. She is getting better the more consistent handling she gets, and is coming around to be more friendly.
